ALBULA & SPLUGA
October 2016
Fall is a beautiful in the Alps, so we decided to go on a road trip across some beautiful mountain passes. Our first one was Splügen Pass, or Passo dellla Spluga as the Italians call it. It leads across the border into Italy and has a great diversity of views. As we were already descending again, we turned around a corner and couldn’t believe our eyes as the whole valley in front of us was filled with fog, just letting the peaks stick out the top in a beautiful layered manner. It was a very warm welcome to Italy.
As soon as you reach Chiavenna, you turn left to return to Switzerland once again and head up Maloja Pass, which spits you out at the top end of the famous Engadin Valley. The fall colors were in full effect up here and made for some great sights. The last part of the road trip brought us across Albula Pass in the nice late afternoon sun. This absolutely gorgeous pass was even prettier in the nice light and when we set off the return home, we were very happy with what we had seen that day.
